Idol Activities 4!

Okay! I'm writing another post before my next performance date. Imani and I, Rine, from NovaDrop will be performing at the third Japan Night held by Riuta Reakt! We have a very short set so we chose two songs - one to sing and one to dance. Since it's just two of us singing I have a lot more lines than I usually do which means I need a LOT more practice with the song. Fortunately, I'm really excited about the song choice! It shouldn't be too hard right? Oh! Did I mention this was happening in less than a month? Eek!

Idol Activities 3!

I've decided to switch it up a bit! Tomorrow, NovaDrop has our first performance as part of a convention! We'll be at Immortal Con in long island, and I'm writing this before the performance instead of after! I'll publish it after the fact though. Hopefully, someone reading this will see us there!

I have a good feeling about this performance. So far, the whole group agrees that were not performing at our full potential. We can all do better, and I think tomorrow that might come through a little bit. This may be our best live performance yet! At least I'm really hoping it is. We've all worked really hard for this and given up a lot. It can be really stressful, especially when we know we're not doing the best we can. The most we can do is practice though!

I, myself, am practicing almost everyday at home; I'm making sure my singing is steady and my dancing is sharp. I'm still not the best yet. Singing is unexpectedly hard for me so I have to practice the notes a lot while dancing my fullest. I'll get it one day, but I hope to show some results tomorrow.

Idol Activities 2!

NovaDrop recently had our second live show! And I just realized I never said anything about the first one D:

Well, the first live show was at a place called Bubble Hut in long island. We drove to the venue together and were surprised to find out how small it was! It could barely hold our five members. We did our best though! You can see some of the results on our YouTube channel if you really want to. But moving on~

If you follow NovaDrop's Facebook page you know that our second live was supposed to be a Perez Play event, but that fell through the night of due to misunderstandings with the management. Fortunately, we were able to book a substitute performance with Riuta Reakt and his Japan Night event. That was a lot of fun and had some really great performers there! One of the three songs we did is up on our YouTube page now too, so watch that and see how we've tried to improve. We're not quite where we want to be yet in terms of skill, but we're getting there!

One thing that was definitely a step up from the Bubble Hut performance is our outfit coordination as a group. We all looked really good together. Very snazzy~ lol. Our unity as performers is also a bit better. Hopefully we'll continue to grow as we continue to perform with one another. Oh! Yeah and it's easier for us to talk to each other too. Yan and I (Rine) were able to ad-lib a bit as we were trying to set up all the microphones we needed so that we could all sing. That's not something we would've been able to do before~ I'm proud of us!

Handmade Lolita

I'm no good at making things. . . I was trying to modify a straw hat for lolita, but the brim unraveled and now I don't know what to do with it! DX maybe if I had more lacy, lolita-esque things to put on it in place of a brim it wouldn't be such a problem? But it is! D'x

I'm not sure what to do with it now. :( I need help.

Well, maybe figuring that out could be a fun challenge? That's a project I don't mind taking up in my free time! If there are any suggestions, please leave them in a comment! I'm all ears~

Idol Activities!

NovaDrop recently had a photoshoot! It was our first official one and the studio we rented was so helpful and nice! If you'd like to know the name of the studio please check out our Facebook page~ They were really wonderful.

The photographer was also pretty awesome! She was a bit new to it (just like we were) but overall, she took some beautiful pictures! I'm very proud to know her and call her my friend. :)

But most of all, I am proud of the group! Our posing, makeup, and styling skills really made the appointment productive even if we're all amateurs. By the end of it, reviewing all the photos and everything, we felt and looked like real idols~ The only think that would make this feeling stronger are multiple live event bookings! And we're prepared to work hard to make that happen!

I'm Back!

So, for a long time I had to abandon this blog because my laptop died. :( I have yet to replace it unfortunately and it only just occurred to me that I could use the blogger app on my phone. ^^; I think I'll have to sacrifice formatting for content, but I'll be posting again!

Some quick updates!

I'm still only following Haikyuu!, Magi, Shokugeki no Souma, and Shingeki no Kyojin in terms of manga. I've been devoting more of my time to reading fanfiction than keeping up with manga. ^^; I feel a bit bad about that. I used to read manga a lot more.

In terms of anime, I'm following those series above and working through a Crunchyroll queue. It's going pretty slow without my own laptop though. I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of cool stories. But I also feel that a lot of anime being exported to the States is mindless and boring. :( if anyone has any anime or manga recommendations, I'm all ears! I usually don't like anything gory but I'm all for a deep story with characters that make sense as real people.

My idol group is still alive and well! I have a Facebook personal page if you want to check it out~ Again, the group is NovaDrop and my stage name is Rine Lumia! I have mostly behind the scenes pictures and video on my page right now. It's not much but I'm trying to add more! (>.<); I recently did a collaboration drawing with one of the other members. It's really cute! I'm proud of it <3 We have a couple of live performances coming up and we're practicing really hard for those. Wish us luck!

I've also been getting more into idol groups! There's this one I was recently introduced to called GEM (girls entertainment mixture). They're really high energy and their dancing is great! I hope to be like them someday. Oh! And speaking of GEM, it's through them that I found another idol producing company called idolStreet! I'm following them on YouTube now~ I always though it was either hello!project or AKB. Hopefully there are others? When I ask around no one seems to be able to tell me any, and I'm not sure where to look on my own. . .

My Favorite Sanrio/San-x Characters

Hello and Happy Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
I really like cats and that shows with my favorite Sanrio/San-x characters. Ultimately I can't decide between Kurushita Nyanko and or Chococat. Not only are they both adorable, I love their color schemes and motifs. Kurushita Nyanko has a lovely, elegant vibe with lace, piano, and sheet music motifs and beige/sax color scheme (usually). While Chococat speaks to my cutesy side with lots of cute,simple shapes and a brown/mint color scheme (usually). Ah~ I really don't want to choose! The only thing is I haven't seen chococat merchandise around in a long time which is pretty disheartening. But fortunately Kurushita Nyanko is there to cheer me right up! =^ w ^=

I've Fallen in Love with Haikyuu!

Ok, so I recently delved into the anime of the manga that quickly made it onto my top list! Oh man I never expected to fall so hard for it! It seems no matter how many times I've watched those same characters do the same things it never fails to get my blood pumping and rooting for them all over again!

Both the manga and anime make me so happy! So to indulge (and not go crazy waiting for chapters and episodes to come out) I will be dedicating this post to my favorite characters and related blogs and stories!

FIRST! Black and Blue by MTrash
I just looooove the way this author handles the characterization. You can tell a lot of care has gone into making the characters act like themselves even with cameos. <3 span=""> And the sweet, yet agonizingly slow development of the plot had me hooked when I discovered it incomplete with only 5 chapters posted. As of this post there's only been one more. This person also has a tumblr were they reblog lost of cute haikyuu shipping things so I'd check that out too if you want. <3 span=""> 

Actually I think that's it for notable fics and blogs that I've indulged in. Everything else was found through this person so anything I write about would be found there on the tumblr. . . Well moving on to my favorite characters!

FIRST! I can't decide :D
I hate choosing favorites for this series. I believe I am physically unable to so I resolved to just say how much I love Asahi and his frightening fragility especially when compared to Nishinoya and his straightforwardness. And I love Hinata, the little ball of boundless energy and SUNSHINE, and his amazing growth over the course of the plot. And I love Tsukishima and (more increasingly) Yamaguchi because they are so realistic as to be practically tangible. And I love love love Kenma, how he's all indifferent yet intrigued and the dynamic between him and the rest of his team (and cats. . . I like the cats thing). 

Speaking of cats I'm really glad (in retrospect) that the authors didn't go the obvious route of having the cats be literally flexible and jumping all over the place like acrobats. It allows you to take Nekoma's characters more seriously and actually examine them instead of expecting certain behaviors because of tropes. I love not knowing what's coming next~

I like Akaashi and his ability to keep Bokuto in check (though I'm admittedly not too attached to Bokuto as a character). And Oikawa, and Iwaizumi, and Hinata's friends from middle school, and Tsukishima's big brother, and TANAKA (how did I forget him?), and Tanaka's sister, and the coaches from Karasuno and Nekoma, and Coach Ukai's grandad (the original), and the little kids the coach teaches, and KIYOKO AND HITOKA (seriously how did I forget those two??) . . . Yeah there's more but I'll stop.

All in all I just really, REALLY appreciate how the series handles friendships, rivalries, hardships, and experiences. The character expressions play a big part in that I think. The pure joy and excitement on Hinata's face and (how it's so different from) the excitement on Kenma's face (lol when he get's a new game). Basically when any character smiles my heart stops and when they're upset my heart drops and I really love this anime ok? I like seeing them move and the changes in expressions and body language that are so smooth and silly sometimes like when Hinata compliments Kageyama or Liev (gosh I forgot him too) calls Hinata even shorter than he thought and Hinata does that crazy little dance/spazz thing lmao. 

Yeah. I think I've managed to express how I feel and what I love about this series. Reflecting on those feelings really made me happy. I can't stop smiling now for some reason hahaha!

Let's hope you get the same fuzzy, warm, happy feelings from an anime sometime!

I've Joined a Idol Group!?

Hello and Happy New Year! Sorry it's been such a long time since I posted! I started a few new endeavors that have been taking up my time a bit~

What happened was at Liberty City Anime Con I met this girl at the 2une concert who was just as excited as me about the group. Most of the other attendees were pretty lackluster about an idol group forming in NYC. She told me about her and some other friends starting a group soon and next thing you know I'm part of it! We are NovaDrop!


I honestly never thought my life would take a turn like this! lol. I am really excited for it though! I'm glad I can now look forward to posting about the developments of the group and I. And, speaking of which, we have our first live performance coming up in an Idol Cafe event held at a Bubble Hut. It's a bubble tea place and we'll be performing alongside the 2une girls (the event where we met) and another group called KuroPop! I love the dancing aspect and I've been working really hard on my singing~ 

Wish me luck at the live! It's this coming Saturday and I really hope I'm ready to perform in front of people! >.<;
